I’m Iain Forrest. I started the business in 2010 - its aim has always been to provide beautiful images to clients in a quick and professional manner. Since then I have photographed more than 5,000 properties across Scotland. I added aerial video and images in 2020 and I now look after a fleet of drones. They provide images that show off so much more to market the clients’ properties in the best way possible.
Back in the 2010s I worked for Google on their virtual tour programme linking hotels to Google Streetview. A virtual tour is still a popular marketing tool for some properties.
In terms of photography here are the things I hold dear: preparation, blue skies, natural light, simplicity and prime lenses for the professional look. The photographs are the first part of the story for the client and my approach is to make them honest, but also irresistible.
I trade as PropertyPhotoForrest, but my business is actually VAT registered as Santiago Marlin Ltd. It’s a name I came up with in the early days of the business in homage to the novel The Old Man and the Sea, by Ernest Hemingway. Not that I can hold a candle to old man Santiago, but I did take some inspiration from the story.
